Nagano

Located in the beautiful Kurobe district of Nagano Prefecture, with the Northern Alps as a stunning backdrop, Shinshu Takayama Winery has grown from a small project into a leading player in Japan’s winemaking industry. It all started in 1996 when Chardonnay vines were first planted in Takayama Village, sparking a new era of wine production in the region.

In 2004, local farmers formed the Takayama Village Wine Grape Study Group. Their goals were to revive unused farmland and learn from international experts to improve their grape-growing skills. This effort boosted local farming and led to the production of high-quality wine grapes. Over time, these grapes began to attract attention from beyond the region, helping Takayama build a strong reputation in Japan’s wine industry. Today, the village is known for its premium wines, born from hard work and dedication.
